Awards to Maddie and Harumi

At a presentation evening last Saturday Maddie Tichborne and Harumi Yagi of Barnet Copthall were presented with the Senior Wilkinson Sword and the Junior Girls Wilkinson Sword respectively for their performances at the Middlesex Championships.

After looking at the photographs of Maddie and Harumi holding these lethal weapons I think you'll agree that it would be better not to pick a fight with either girl just now!

London Swimming Long Distance Meet

Some excellent results for Barnet Copthall at last weekend's meet in Aldershot where London swimmers were given the rare opportunity to swim 800 free and 1500 free long course. Congratulations to all 5 swimmers.

Jamie Richter swam just one of the events - the 1500 free - but managed two National Qualifying times! At the 800m mark he registered 9:53.05 which was an NQT and he continued at a good pace to complete the 1500m in 18:46.90 - a second NQT. Jo Zambelli knocked two and a half seconds off her previous PB in the 800 free and achieved an NQT with 9:33.54. Chris Eddon qualified for ASA Nationals for 800m and must have been very pleased with his time of 8:36.50 - a PB of nearly 8 seconds.

Both of the other Copthall swimmers produced PBs - Megan Boldison bettered her 800m time by 30 seconds to finish on 9:47.79 and Emily Dean improved her 1500m time by nearly 8 seconds with a 19:53.30.
